Blackout called off in Gujarat districts as India–Pakistan agree to ceasefire

Jamnagar: The Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) of India and Pakistan have agreed to halt all military operations, including firing on land, in the air, and at sea, starting from 5 p.m. today, as stated by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.

With this development, the blackout that was earlier announced in multiple districts of Gujarat—including Jamnagar, Kutch, Banaskantha, and parts of Patan—has now been called off. The blackout had been declared as a precautionary measure following drone attacks over the past two days in the border areas of Kutch.

Jamnagar District Collector Ketan Thakkar was the first to confirm that electricity supply in the district would continue as normal and that the blackout had been officially cancelled for Jamnagar.

In a video message, the IAS officer said, “As per the latest updates, the blackout that was announced earlier, from 8 PM on May 10 to 6 AM on May 11 in Jamnagar district, has been cancelled. The electricity supply will continue. However, people are advised to remain vigilant and contact the district administration if needed.”

Later, the official Twitter handle of the Collector & DM, Kachchh, stated: “There is no need to implement the instructions given for the blackout tonight.”

Patan Collector said, “In view of the current situation and the latest instructions, the blackout imposed in Santalpur taluka on May 10, 2025, has been cancelled. As a precautionary measure, citizens are requested to remain alert and ensure safety, and to contact the district control room if necessary.”

The District Collector of Banaskantha also informed: “In the current situation, the blackout scheduled for today in the villages of Vav and Suigam has been suspended. Kindly take note of this.”

Confirming the ceasefire, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said, “Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) called the Indian DGMO at 15:35 hours earlier this afternoon. It was agreed between them that both sides would stop all firing and military action on land, in the air, and at sea with effect from 1700 hours Indian Standard Time today. Instructions have been issued on both sides to implement this understanding. The Directors General of Military Operations will speak again on May 12 at 1200 hours.” DeshGujarat
