CBI Court orders 3 years jail to Samast Muslim Khalifa Sunnatval Jamat’s then President – Secretary for FCRA violation

Surat: A CBI court has sentenced three accused, including the then president and secretary of Navsari Trust Samast Muslim Khalijna Sunnatwal Jamaat, to 3 years imprisonment in a case related to criminal conspiracy and Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), with a total fine of Rs. 60,000/ which includes a fine of 20,000/- on the accused trust. The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of CBI Court No. 02, Ahmedabad ordered 3 years imprisonment to then president of Trust Samast Muslim Khalifa Sunnatwal Jamaat of Navsari, Yusuf Abdul Shaikh and Kir Mohammad Jamalbhai Shaikh, then secretary.
CBI registered a case on 17.01.2012 against the accused Samast Muslim Khalijna Sunnatwal Jamaat Navsari, which was not registered under FCRA and in violation of Section 11 of FCRA-2010 during the period 1998-1888 to 2010-2011 at regular intervals without prior permission of Government of India received Rs. 11258600/- and violated the provisions of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 2010 by receiving a contribution. This was punishable under Section 35 of the above Act.
Meanwhile, it was also revealed that the accused trust received a total of Rs. 11258600/. However, the documents/vouchers produced could not justify the amount received by the trust. During the trial, 14 prosecution witnesses were examined and 40 documents/objects were produced in support of the allegations against the accused.
After completion of investigation, by CBI, a charge sheet was filed against the accused. After the trial, the court convicted the accused and sentenced them to 3 years imprisonment. DeshGujarat
