ACB Gujarat book two cops in bribery case
May 13, 2025
Navsari: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat has booked two police personnel in a bribery case involving a sum of ₹40,000.
According to the ACB, the complainant had secured anticipatory bail from the court in a prohibition-related offence in which he was named as an accused. Despite the bail order, the accused police personnel allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹40,000 to process the formal arrest and subsequent release. The accused, Amrutbhai Maganbhai Vasava, a Police Sub-Inspector posted at the GIDC Police Outpost under Navsari Rural Police Station, allegedly demanded the bribe, while Chiragkumar Sureshbhai Rathod, an Assistant Police Constable at the same station, was instructed to collect the money.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB, which laid a trap on May 13, 2025. During the operation, the accused constable accepted the ₹40,000 bribe in the computer room on the first floor of the Navsari Rural Police Station and was caught red-handed. The Sub-Inspector was not present at the scene. However, both have been booked for collusion and corruption. DeshGujarat
