Gujarat ACB traps ASI, police constable in ₹8,000 bribe case

Jamnagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today nabbed two police personnel posted at Khambhaliya Gate Police Chowki in the city in a bribery case involving a sum of ₹8,000.

As per the ACB, the accused, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Yuvrajsinh Jagdishsinh Gohil and Police Head Constable Pushparajsinh Girirajsinh Jadeja, were investigating an application against the complainant. During the probe, ASI Gohil allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹10,000 from the complainant to avoid harassment and detention. On May 19, Constable Jadeja allegedly took ₹2,000 in advance from the complainant, who only had that much at the time. The remaining ₹8,000 was to be paid later.

However, as the complainant was unwilling to pay the bribe, he contacted the ACB. Acting on his complaint, the ACB laid a trap at the police chowki, during which Jadeja accepted the remaining ₹8,000 on behalf of ASI Gohil. Both cops were caught red-handed and booked for misusing their official positions. DeshGujarat
