Maximum temperature in Ahmedabad crosses 40°C after several days

Ahmedabad: The city sizzled under intense heat on Tuesday, as temperatures climbed to 41°C, the highest in over two weeks, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). With the mercury already high, the discomfort was intensified by elevated humidity levels , 53% in the morning and 36% in the evening. Furthermore, although the maximum temperature was technically one degree below normal, the nighttime mercury stayed two degrees above average, settling at 29.5°C.

Across the state, the Kandla Airport region recorded the highest daytime temperature at 42°C, followed by Rajkot (41.3°C), Amreli (40.9°C), and Surendranagar (40.8°C). The state capital, Gandhinagar, was also quite hot at 40.5°C, while Bhuj and Deesa both recorded 40.2°C.

Vadodara approached near the 40°C mark, registering 39°C on Tuesday. Surat, though slightly cooler at 36.7°C, felt uncomfortably hot due to 95% humidity, a common occurrence in the coastal region.

Meanwhile, the IMD has forecast light to moderate thunderstorms and gusty winds for several districts, including Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Kheda, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, and others on Wednesday. On Thursday, heavy rainfall is likely in Chhota Udepur, Narmada, and Bharuch, along with light to moderate thunderstorms in parts of north and south Gujarat and Saurashtra.

Furthermore, on Friday and Saturday, several areas in coastal south Gujarat and Saurashtra may experience heavy rainfall, bringing much-needed relief from the summer heat and humidity. DeshGujarat
