Heavy Rainfall Likely in Parts of Gujarat till May 29: IMD Forecast

Gandhinagar: Several districts in Gujarat are expected to receive heavy rainfall over the next three days, till May 29. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), in its latest forecast, stated that light to moderate rain is likely to occur across all districts of the state during this period. However, some districts — including Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Gir Somnath — may experience heavy rainfall.
According to the IMD bulletin, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in the districts of Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, as well as in Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Diu during the next 24 hours, till 8:30 AM on May 28. Moderate thunderstorms with lightning and surface winds of 50–60 km/h may also occur in these districts. Meanwhile, the remaining districts are likely to receive light rain.
On May 28, heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places in the districts of Dahod, Mahisagar, Chhotaudepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Gir Somnath.
On May 29, heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places in the districts of Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Amreli, and Bhavnagar.
From May 30, rainfall will begin to subside, according to the IMD. Only Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, and parts of Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Diu may receive some light rain, while the rest of the state is expected to remain dry till May 31.
On June 1 and 2, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely at isolated places in the districts of Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Gir Somnath. Dry weather is very likely in the remaining districts of the region.
In another development, the Northern Limit of the Monsoon currently passes through several locations including Mumbai, Pune, Sholapur, Kalaburagi, Mahbubnagar, Kavali, Agartala, Goalpara, and stretches across parts of the Arabian Sea and Northeast India.
According to the IMD, conditions are favourable for the Southwest Monsoon to advance further over the next 2–3 days. It is likely to cover more areas of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and most parts of the West-Central and North Bay of Bengal, as well as the remaining northeastern states, West Bengal, and parts of Sikkim.
