Where Did It Rain? Gujarat’s 24-Hour Showers in Data

Gandhinagar: Several parts of Gujarat received rainfall over a 24-hour period ending Thursday morning, with Modasa in Arvalli district recording the highest rainfall at 2.36 inches, followed by Saraswati and Patan, both in north Gujarat. According to data from the State Emergency Operation Center, a total of 89 talukas reported rainfall during this spell of pre-monsoon activity that has been ongoing for the past few days.

Twenty-one talukas that received more than one inch of rainfall included: Anklav, Mahesana, Poshina, Unjha, Anand, Sidhpur, Vijapur, Meghraj, Vadgam, Himatnagar, Palanpur, Kadi, Mansa, Visnagar, Bayad, Lunawada, Galteshwar, and Dhansura.

Meanwhile, talukas receiving between half an inch and one inch of rainfall included: Amirgadh, Prantij, Bhavnagar, Talod, Dasada, Danta, Khedbrahma, Vadali, Dehgam, Chanasma, Vadnagar, Harij, Umreth, Kalol, Vadodara city, Bhiloda, Malpur, Mandal, Dhanera, Vijaynagar, and Vagra.

The showers brought a brief respite from rising temperatures in many districts and are likely to continue for the next seven days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain across all districts for the next 24 hours, while stating that South Gujarat and coastal parts of Surat may witness rain till June 3.

Notably, even though the official figures don’t show the city of Ahmedabad in the top 30 list, the city received significant rainfall late last night, accompanied by a thunderstorm and strong winds. DeshGujarat
