Gujarat swelters under heat with monsoon far away; Ahmedabad hottest
June 10, 2025
Gandhinagar: With the Southwest Monsoon still a few days away, Gujarat is witnessing hot weather and high mercury levels, with negligible rain in some places over the past few days. On Monday, only one taluka received as little as 3 mm of rain, and temperatures largely remained close to seasonal averages.
Ahmedabad remained the hottest across the state, with a maximum temperature of 40.7°C, just 0.2°C below normal, while the minimum settled at 28.8°C, slightly above normal by 0.8°C. Similar patterns were observed in Rajkot, where the mercury peaked at 39.1°C, 1.1°C below normal, and the night was cooler at 25.6°C, 1.3°C below normal.
In Gandhinagar, the day’s high touched 40.5°C, matching the normal level, with a minimum of 28.2°C, a slight dip of 0.3°C. Meanwhile, Deesa also recorded 40.5°C.
Coastal areas such as Diu, Dwarka, and Porbandar remained relatively cooler. Dwarka stood out with a significantly pleasant 33.6°C, though relative humidity was high—84% at 08:30 IST and 83% by 17:30 IST—contributing to a muggy feel.
Kaprada in Valsad district was the only place in the state to receive rain, but it was a negligible amount—0.1 inch, which equals 3 mm—signaling a dry spell ahead of the monsoon’s active phase.
Overall, the weather across Gujarat remained dry, with daytime temperatures ranging from normal to slightly below normal, moderate humidity, and no significant precipitation activity reported. DeshGujarat
