Bhavnagar: Amidst extremely heavy rain this afternoon, 38 students of Model High School were safely rescued after getting trapped in floodwaters while crossing the Rupao river near Talgajarda village in Mahuva taluka. The students were on the Ratol-Talgajarda road around 1:00 pm when a sudden rise in water levels and strong currents, caused by heavy rainfall upstream, left them stranded. The children took refuge in a nearby private house as the river’s flow intensified.
As per an official statement, upon receiving the information, the Mahuva Fire Team, local police, Mamlatdar, and provincial officers rushed to the scene. With help from villagers, rescuers reached the stranded children using a tractor and a boat. A human chain was formed to safely guide the students out. Fortunately, all the children were rescued unharmed.
