4th day into Monsoon: Gujarat completes nearly 13% average monsoon rainfall

Gandhinagar: Just the fourth day after the southwest monsoon advanced into Gujarat, the state has already completed nearly 13% of its average annual rainfall. According to official data from the State Emergency Operation Centre, as of 6 am today, Gujarat has received 113.63 mm of rainfall this monsoon season, amounting to 12.87% of the average annual rainfall.

As per the data, all 251 talukas in the state have received rainfall, with around 22 talukas getting over 251 mm (i.e., 9.8 inches) of seasonal rain so far. These talukas include Khambhat, Petlad, Tarapur, Chotila, Muli, Sayla, Thangadh, Jesar, Palitana, Shihor, Umrala, Vallabhipur, Botad, Barwala, Gadhada, Dolvan, Kaprada, Umergaon, Dang-Ahwa, Subir, and Vaghai.

Zone-wise, Saurashtra has received the highest percentage of average rainfall at 20.12%, followed by Kutch at 17.55%. The East-Central Zone has completed 12.60%, while South Gujarat and North Gujarat have recorded 8.99% and 8.15% of average rainfall respectively.

Botad district in Saurashtra has recorded the highest rainfall this season so far, with 329.00 mm, followed by Dang in South Gujarat at 300.00 mm, and Bhavnagar at 260.9 mm.

The southwest monsoon made its onset in Gujarat on June 16, covering most parts of the state by June 17. The remaining areas of North Gujarat were covered on June 18, yesterday. DeshGujarat
