Ahmedabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to visit his home state of Gujarat on Saturday, June 21. Shah is scheduled to participate in the International Yoga Day celebrations and will attend a special Yoga Day program in Ahmedabad.

International Yoga Day is celebrated worldwide on June 21 to highlight the importance of yoga for health and well-being. With roots dating back thousands of years, yoga plays a vital role in promoting a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

The campaign launched by the Gujarat State Yoga Board to integrate yoga into everyday life has earned international recognition. On International Yoga Day 2023, a record-breaking 1,47,952 people participated in a yoga session organized by the Gujarat Yoga Board in Surat. This achievement was recorded in the Guinness World Records as the largest gathering of people practicing yoga simultaneously.

Furthering this legacy, another Guinness World Record was set on January 1, 2024, when more than 50,000 people performed Surya Namaskar at 108 locations, including the iconic Modhera Sun Temple. DeshGujarat
