June 30, 2025
Ahmedabad: Law enforcement agencies have seized two kilograms of hybrid marijuana (ganja) from a passenger who arrived from Thailand at Sardar Vallabhbhai International airport in the city.
Officials on duty received a tip-off that a passenger on a flight from Thailand was carrying hybrid marijuana. Acting on the intelligence, they intercepted the passenger and recovered two kilograms of hybrid marijuana worth around ₹2 crore. The accused peddler was arrested and is being interrogated to ascertain the intended recipient and delivery network.
Authorities are also investigating how many times the accused has traveled to Thailand and other countries. Notably, a deeper probe into his background could expose the involvement of high-profile individuals in the drug network. In the past one and a half months, agencies like the DRI and the Air Intelligence Unit have intensified surveillance after drugs worth ₹160 crore were seized at the airport. DeshGujarat
