July 01, 2025
Ahmedabad: Nature lovers in the city can soon witness the vibrant world of birds up close as the Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Ltd. (SRFDCL) launches a guided birdwatching experience from July 5, 2025. The activity, aimed at promoting awareness of urban biodiversity, will be held every Saturday and Sunday at the picturesque Biodiversity Park, located below Ambedkar Bridge on the western riverfront.
Participants will be taken through a planned route covering spots including Flower Park, Dudheshwar Bridge, and Railway Bridge – Subhash Bridge. So far, 191 different bird species have been recorded along the riverfront, offering a rare opportunity to explore Ahmedabad’s rich birdlife within city limits.
The best time for birdwatching is in the morning (6:00 AM to 8:00 AM) and evening (5:00 PM to 7:00 PM). To enhance the experience, essential facilities like a telescope, a pair of binoculars, a bird identification handbook, and optional cameras will be provided.
The activity, guided by expert birders, is open to all age groups and is especially ideal for those who enjoy walking and connecting with nature. Interested participants can register at: https://forms.gle/EU24t1skQABryAZEA
