Gujarat to host four regional conferences ahead of next Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit
July 04, 2025
Gandhinagar: In the run-up to the next Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS), the state government will host four regional conferences across Gujarat—covering North Gujarat, Saurashtra-Kutch, South Gujarat, and Central Gujarat—during 2025 and 2026. Meanwhile, the 11th edition of the VGGS, originally scheduled for 2026, will now be held in 2027.
To coordinate these events, a core committee led by the chief secretary has been formed. According to a notification from the Industries and Mines Department, this new initiative, named Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences (VGRCs), aims to replicate the success of VGGS at the regional level. The goal is to allow each region to showcase its strengths and developmental potential while encouraging broader public participation.
As per the proposed schedule, the North Gujarat VGRC is likely to take place in Mehsana on October 9–10, 2025. The Saurashtra-Kutch edition is tentatively planned for January 8–9, 2026, in Rajkot. Surat will host the South Gujarat VGRC on April 9–10, and Vadodara will host the Central Gujarat edition on July 9–10, 2026.
The 25-member core committee will include senior officials such as additional chief secretaries, principal secretaries, and secretaries of key departments. It will also include the CEO of Dholera SIR, the MD of GIDC, and the MD of iNDEXTb, who will serve as the committee’s member secretary.
A senior official from the Industries Department stated that the aim is to spotlight regional strengths and create localized investment opportunities. North Gujarat is known for agriculture, dairy, food processing, and automobile industries in the Mandal-Bahucharaji SIR. Ahmedabad and Dholera SIR have a strong presence of chemical and tech-based industries. Similarly, Central Gujarat (Vadodara), South Gujarat (Surat), and Saurashtra (Rajkot and Jamnagar) offer distinct industrial and economic advantages.
It has also come to light that no foreign delegations of IAS officers or ministers will be sent abroad this year for VGGS promotion.
