Rajkot Police detains PT Jadeja under PASA

Rajkot: Rajkot City Taluka Police detained Kshatriya agitation leader Pravinsinh Tapubha Jadeja, also known as P.T. Jadeja, under the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act (PASA) late Friday night. The action follows the circulation of an audio clip in which Jadeja allegedly threatened volunteers against performing aarti at the Amarnath Temple. He has now been transferred to Sabarmati Jail in Ahmedabad, while several Kshatriya community leaders gathered at the police station in protest.

The complaint was lodged by Jasminbhai Bharatbhai Makwana, a 44-year-old factory owner and long-time temple volunteer. According to the FIR, on April 20, Jadeja called Makwana and threatened him with violence if the aarti was held. “Don’t perform aarti or there will be bloodshed,” Jadeja allegedly said, using abusive language. As per the complaint, Jadeja not only opposed the event but also allegedly tore down and removed the banners and threatened the organisers.

Makwana stated that the aarti, attended by over 800 devotees every Monday, was organised by the Amarnath Youth Group. Jadeja, a former trustee of the temple, was allegedly trying to reassert his control. His anger over banners bearing the youth group’s name is believed to have triggered the threats. Citing public safety and intimidation, the police acted swiftly and detained him under PASA.

Late Friday night, police arrived at Jadeja’s residence in Sainagar to serve the PASA order. His blood pressure reportedly spiked to 300, prompting immediate medical attention at Giriraj Hospital. He was later taken to the Taluka Police Station, and preparations began for his transfer to Sabarmati Jail. Anticipating backlash, police deployed heavy security at both his residence and the police station.

P.T. Jadeja has been a key figure in recent Kshatriya protests, particularly in opposition to BJP leader Purushottam Rupala’s controversial remarks about Kshatriya women. His arrest is being viewed by community leaders as a retaliatory move by the administration.

This is not Jadeja’s first run-in with the law. He was previously booked in a usury case by Malviyanagar Police. DeshGujarat
