Land record changes to trigger SMS alerts for farmers in Gujarat
July 09, 2025
Gandhinagar: In a major move to prevent land-related fraud, the Gujarat Revenue Department has launched a new initiative under which farmers will receive SMS alerts for any changes made to their land records. The initiative aims to ensure transparency and protect landowners from unauthorized alterations.
Under this system, farmers who link their Aadhaar and mobile numbers with their 7/12 land records will receive SMS notifications whenever updates or changes are made to their land details. In cases where multiple farmers jointly own agricultural land, the mobile numbers of all co-owners must be linked. If any one of them initiates a change—such as converting agricultural land to non-agricultural (NA) use or making any other transaction—all linked members will receive an SMS alert.
The service is being facilitated through e-Dhara centres, where farmers can update and link their details. Officials have stated that awareness campaigns are being conducted to ensure widespread participation.
According to sources in the Revenue Department, the system will also be integrated with the Farmer Registry, which is already mandatory for beneficiaries of schemes like the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi. DeshGujarat
