India’s first private Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal inaugurated in Gujarat

Surat: The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) on Wednesday launched the nation’s first privately developed Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal (GCT) along the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), located near Surat, Gujarat.

Known as the New Sanjali Terminal, the facility spans around 120 acres and has been built by the Sawariya Shakti Group on privately owned land under Schedule-1 of the Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal policy, which aims to boost private investment in logistics infrastructure.

The terminal is strategically positioned to ensure efficient connectivity to major industrial hubs in Gujarat, including Panoli GIDC, Ankleshwar, and Jhagadia. It also provides access to prominent ports such as Dahej, Hazira, and JNPT, thereby supporting smoother regional and national trade operations.

With direct links to National Highway-48 and National Expressway-4, and proximity to a planned Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) just six kilometers away, the terminal is designed to enhance multimodal transport.

It features two Receipt & Dispatch lines connected to both DFCCIL and the Indian Railways network, a 28-acre Inland Container Depot (ICD), and 650,000 sq. ft. of warehousing space, which includes a 54,000 sq. ft. bonded warehouse, PESO-certified storage units, and cold chain infrastructure.
