AMTS launches special bus service for religious pilgrimage during Shravan
July 15, 2025
Ahmedabad: To mark the holy month of Shravan, the Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) has launched a special religious bus tour service for devotees wishing to visit temples across the city. Under this initiative, people will be taken to 8 to 10 prominent temples in a day, with buses providing pick-up and drop-off services directly from citizens’ homes. Bookings for the tour can be made at Laldarwaja, Sarangpur, Vadaj, and Maninagar terminuses.
AMTS Committee Chairman Dharamsinh Desai said that this annual initiative receives a massive response from devotees who travel in groups for temple visits. To ensure that regular city bus services remain unaffected, 80 dedicated buses will be operated daily throughout the Shravan month. The tour excludes Trimandir at Adalaj due to heavy traffic and parking constraints.
Each bus will operate from 8:15 am to 4:45 pm and can accommodate up to 40 passengers. Citizens within AMC limits can book a bus for ₹3,000, while those under AUDA jurisdiction will have to pay ₹5,000. Bookings require the submission of a property tax bill and a completed application form.
Last year, AMTS facilitated religious travel for over one lakh devotees using 1,000 bus trips during Shravan and Adhik Shravan. Based on the strong response over the years, AMTS has once again urged citizens to take advantage of this service.
