Jamnagar: In a significant move, Jamnagar’s royal head, Jam Saheb Shatrusalyasinhji Maharaj, has entrusted some of his important real estate properties to the Adani Group for redevelopment.
For some time, members of the Adani family and senior management have been visiting Jamnagar and meeting Jam Saheb, leading to speculation about a major development project. Last week, Gautam Adani’s nephew, Pranav Adani, visited Jamnagar and met Jam Saheb—a meeting captured in widely circulated photos that further fueled curiosity about the scale of the collaboration.
The speculation gained official confirmation after Jam Saheb issued a letter explaining the move. “For me to do business with Adani would be like an ant trying to partner with an elephant—it simply isn’t possible, nor is it my intention. I am not a businessman,” Jam Saheb clarified.
Explaining the real purpose, he added, “I requested the Adani Group to develop some of my key properties so that Jamnagar could once again become the ‘Paris of India.’ They accepted this idea with affection. So, I have entrusted these important properties to them for development.”
Jam Saheb also made it clear that this is not a sale: “I have not sold these properties; I have legally granted them rights to develop for a nominal amount,” he stated, expressing hope that the Adani Group’s vision and commitment would help take Jamnagar forward and make it more beautiful.
The royal family owns large and well-known sites in the city, including Walkeshwari Nagari, Palace Grounds, and Peter Scott Sanctuary, covering hundreds of thousands of square feet. Additionally, they possess thousands of acres of land in the surrounding district, opening vast possibilities for transformative projects. DeshGujarat
