Gandhinagar: The first span of the Narmada Main Canal bridge located between Adalaj and Khoraj in Gandhinagar district has sustained damage. Situated at chainage 239.021 km on the Narmada canal, this 25-year-old bridge is set to undergo repairs, for which the district additional collector, N.R. Sharma, has issued an official order.

According to a letter from the Executive Engineer of the Narmada Project Main Canal Division-2, Gandhinagar, measures are being taken to prevent further damage to the structure. Keeping that in mind, the movement of heavy vehicles over the bridge will be prohibited from 12 p.m. on July 16, 2025, until midnight on September 13, 2025. State Transport (ST) buses and AMTS buses will also not be allowed to use this route during the repair period.

Motorists have been advised to take the Sarkhej–Gandhinagar highway as an alternative route.

The Narmada main canal extends for 458 km from Kevadia to Rajasthan. The Narmada Project Main Canal Division-2, Gandhinagar, is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the canal stretch from chainage 144.500 km to 293.501 km. DeshGujarat
