Fired Employee Booked for Abusing, Threatening KP Group on LinkedIn

Surat: A former assistant general manager of city-based green energy firm KP Group has been booked for defamation and criminal intimidation after allegedly threatening and abusing the company and its employees on LinkedIn.

The accused, Ashish Gupta, had joined KPI Green Energy Ltd, a subsidiary of KP Group, on June 16 but was let go on July 5 for poor performance. Following his dismissal, Gupta allegedly posted defamatory statements about the company and its staff on LinkedIn, used abusive language, and repeatedly tagged the firm. When the HR head tried to speak with him about the posts, Gupta allegedly turned aggressive and threatened to harm anyone who challenged him, while also demanding to be reinstated.

On July 9, Gupta reportedly published three more defamatory posts, claiming that KP Group owed him ₹10 lakh and continuing his verbal attacks against employees. The company, however, clarified that it had already paid Gupta ₹4.54 lakh, covering his 20-day salary, one month’s advance salary, and hotel expenses.

Later, the company approached Khatodara police, who have booked Gupta under Sections 365(2) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and are investigating the matter. DeshGujarat
