Creta driver flees after running over woman at petrol pump in Surat village

Surat: A shocking accident took place at a petrol pump located on the outskirts of Palod village in Mangrol taluka of Surat, where a woman employee working at the pump was run over by a four-wheeler driver. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the petrol pump.

According to details, the incident occurred on NH-48, at a petrol pump in the limits of Palod village. The victim, 35-year-old Sangeetaben Bharatbhai Thakor, was collecting a heap of waste when a Hyundai Creta driver, allegedly driving carelessly, hit her from behind and ran the car over her.

The accident was so severe, but the woman was miraculously alive and sustained injuries, especially on her right leg near the ankle, after the vehicle’s wheel rolled over it. Immediately after the accident, other employees present at the petrol pump rushed to help her.

The CCTV footage clearly shows the woman collecting garbage, the car hitting her from behind, and the driver speeding away even as petrol pump staff chase him in an attempt to catch him.

Following the incident, a formal complaint was filed at Kosamba police station by Sangeetaben or her family. Police have begun efforts to identify and arrest the absconding driver using the CCTV footage.  DeshGujarat
