July 22, 2025
Surat: The menace of stray dogs continues to claim innocent lives in the state, with yet another tragic incident occurring in Mangrol of Surat district. A six-year-old girl was mauled to death by a group of stray dogs while playing near her home in Juikosadi village.
According to eyewitnesses, the child was playing outside when 3–4 stray dogs suddenly attacked her. Despite her attempts to escape, the dogs inflicted severe injuries. Locals rushed to help after hearing the commotion, eventually driving the dogs away, but by then the girl had sustained critical injuries.
The child was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment, where she succumbed to her injuries.
This is the third such fatal incident in the area recently. Earlier, a five-year-old child and a two-year-old child also lost their lives in separate dog attacks, highlighting growing concerns over public safety. Local residents continue to demand urgent intervention to curb the rising threat posed by stray animals in the city and nearby villages, yet their pleas are yielding no results from the civic bodies.
