AMC razes illegal encroachments near Vishala – Sarkhej National Highway 47
July 25, 2025
Ahmedabad: As part of efforts to clear the TP road parallel to National Highway No. 47 from Vishala to Sarkhej, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has cleared encroachments in Maktampura ward.
The AMC had earlier issued notices under Sections 67 and 68, Rule 33 of the Gujarat Town Planning and Urban Development Act, 1976, to remove encroachments and open the 7.50-metre service road. While some occupants near Gujarat Freeze had filed a petition in the Gujarat High Court, no stay order was granted. Despite giving sufficient time to remove illegal structures voluntarily, the occupants failed to do so.
Subsequently, with police protection provided by Vejalpur Police Station, the AMC launched a demolition drive using one Hitachi machine, one JCB machine, two debris removal trucks, four breaker machines, two gas cutters, and the help of 22 labourers from private contractors. In this drive, the AMC demolished illegal constructions from three buildings, which included eight commercial units and one residential unit, thereby opening the TP road.
AMC officials stated that such clearance drives will continue in the coming days to ensure smooth implementation of the city’s planned road network. DeshGujara
