IOA approves India’s bid to host 2030 Commonwealth Games; Ahmedabad proposed as host city

New Delhi: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) officially approved India’s bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games during its Special General Meeting (SGM) on Wednesday.
India has submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the 2030 Games, proposing Ahmedabad as the host city. The country must now submit its final bid documents before the August 31 deadline.
With Canada withdrawing from the race, India’s chances of securing the 2030 Commonwealth Games have strengthened.
A team of officials from Commonwealth Sport, led by Director of Games Darren Hall, recently visited Ahmedabad to inspect potential venues and meet with Gujarat government representatives. A larger delegation from Commonwealth Sport is expected to visit later this month.
The host nation will be formally decided by the General Assembly of Commonwealth Sport in the last week of November in Glasgow. India previously hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2010 in Delhi. DeshGujarat
