Ahmedabad: The revenue committee of the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Tuesday approved a proposal to grant vehicle tax exemption for persons with disabilities on up to two vehicles purchased for personal use. The benefit will apply to vehicles priced up to ₹15 lakh each and will provide a lifetime waiver of vehicle tax.

A standing committee resolution passed on November 7, 1981, had earlier allowed tax exemption for vehicles used by persons with disabilities for travel. The new decision revises this provision by extending the exemption to two vehicles meant for personal use. Applicants will need to apply for the waiver at the time of purchase, after which, upon verification of documents and payment of a token fee of ₹100, a certificate of exemption will be issued.
