Ahmedabad: Ramol police have arrested two men for allegedly forging income certificates to fraudulently secure Ayushman Bharat health cards for people. The accused, Dhiraj Rajput and Kishor Prajapati, were running the scam from a rented shop in Vastral. During a raid, police seized goods worth around ₹1 lakh. A third accused, Deepak Ahir from Surat, remains absconding, and efforts are underway to apprehend him.
Police investigations revealed that the duo had produced fake income certificates for approximately 40 people. Individuals from Ahmedabad and other districts had approached them, even though many had actual incomes above ₹4 lakh, making them ineligible for Ayushman cards.
During questioning, Rajput and Prajapati admitted that they started the business two years ago, initially intending to help people obtain Ayushman cards. However, as many clients earned above ₹4 lakh, they began creating forged income documents. Investigations also revealed that Kishor procured fake income certificates and addresses through a contact at the Daskroi Mamlatdar office, while Rajput later roped in Ahir for the scheme.
The accused reportedly charged between ₹1,500 and ₹5,000 per fake certificate, customizing the documents according to the client’s requirements. These forged certificates were then submitted as genuine documents to secure Ayushman Bharat health cards. DeshGujarat
