ACB Gujarat nabs SMC computer operator in bribery case

Surat: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat Police today nabbed a computer operator working with the Surat civic body in a bribery case involving a sum of ₹5,000.

In this case, the complainant had applied in 2022 for the transfer of property ownership at the Katargam North Zone office of the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC). Since the request was still pending, the complainant met the concerned clerk in person at the zone office. Subsequently, the accused, Rahul Ramashish Pal (24), working as a computer operator, contacted the complainant via a WhatsApp call today and demanded a bribe of ₹5,000 to facilitate the property transfer.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB and submitted the details. Based on this information, a sting operation was organized. When the complainant met the accused, Rahul accepted the bribe of ₹5,000 on the spot, leading to his immediate apprehension for committing the offense. DeshGujarat
