Ahmedabad: The customs department at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport arrested two passengers arriving from Hanoi after finding 8.4 kg of hydroponic marijuana on them.
Officials said the duo was intercepted on suspicion, and a check of their baggage led to the recovery of 16 vacuum-sealed transparent packets containing a greenish substance. Tests later confirmed it to be marijuana.
Both passengers were taken into custody under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. Authorities added that this seizure is part of a recent spate of such cases at the airport.
“We are investigating to identify both the senders and receivers,” an official said. DeshGujarat
