Vadsar in Vadodara to get Rs. 31.64 crore bridge

Vadodara |: A new bridge will soon be constructed at Vadsar in Vadodara district to ensure uninterrupted connectivity during floods. The Standing Committee of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has approved the project at an estimated cost of ₹31.63 crore. The construction is expected to be completed within 18 months.

Currently, during monsoons and flooding, road connectivity in Vadsar village near Gotri, particularly in the Shaktinagar area, gets disrupted. To solve this long-standing problem, the VMC has approved the building of a bridge spanning around 30 meters across the Vishwamitri River. This bridge will provide a vital link between both sides of the village, ensuring safe passage for residents and vehicles even during heavy rains.

The new bridge is designed to have a four-lane road with dividers, footpaths, and safety railings. Once completed, it will significantly reduce commuting difficulties faced by local residents. The project was proposed under the SOR-2023 framework and approved by the Roads and Buildings Committee of the VMC.

Additionally, provisions have been made for drainage pipelines along the bridge to prevent waterlogging, and the structure will also connect nearby key roads for smoother traffic flow. The project will further enhance connectivity between Gotri, Shaktinagar, Vadsar, and adjoining localities.

The estimated cost breakdown shows that around ₹10 crore will be spent on civil works, while the remaining funds will cover land acquisition, utilities, and associated development works. The VMC has also highlighted that the bridge will play a crucial role in improving emergency response, health services, and public safety during natural calamities.

Local representatives and residents had been demanding this project for several years, citing difficulties faced during floods. With this approval, the long-pending demand of Vadsar villagers has been fulfilled, and the bridge is expected to transform local connectivity and safety. DeshGujarat
