GST Dept searches Navratri Garba organizers in Ahmedabad, Surat

Ahmedabad: The GST department has launched strict action against Garba organizers in the state who were reportedly charging exorbitant amounts for event passes. On the eighth night of Navratri, officials conducted searches in Ahmedabad and Surat, targeting organizers suspected of black-marketing passes and collecting excessive fees.
As per the reports, the operations were carried out during the Suvarna Navratri celebrations after reports of unauthorized sale of passes. Searches were specifically conducted at events featuring Aditya Gardhvi, Jiggardan Gardhvi, and a former minister, sending shockwaves across major Garba organizers in the state.
A team of more than 10 GST officials carried out the operations, acting swiftly against organizers involved in the rampant sale of passes. Officials have indicated that the ongoing investigation could reveal further details about the irregularities, highlighting the department’s efforts to curb illegal practices during the festival.
