Youths lost way in Jungle in Gujarat Rescued by Police after Mother’s SOS Post on X

Gandhinagar: Five youths who were stuck in the jungle of Narmada district of Central Gujarat were tracked and brought back safely by Police.

Subhashini M, a politician of Telugu Desam Party in Hyderabad on Sunday afternoon tweeted on X that her son with his friends (5) went for trekking close to Tungai Mata, Zarwani and got stuck as they were not finding the way to come back.

Acting on her SoS, Minister of State for Home directed the State police chief DGP Vikas Sahay to help them. Sanghavi also asked to share family contact and missing persons details.

The mother of the missing youth who had tweeted about this said, when her son called, she went completely blank and didn’t know whom to call. She just googled nearby police station and called. They immediately shared the concerned person’s number, but still being a mother she was worried and posted on X as well. She further said that MoS Harsh Sanghavi’s initiative gave intense care.

Later DGP Gujarat tweeted that the youths have been located and they are safe and rescued. Sanghavi too weeted that there’s no need to worry, Gujarat Police had located the five youths and escorting them.

Narmada Police later tweeted – Upon receiving the information,the Narmada Police team immediately initiated a search operation for the missing students involving local persons & conducted a thorough search of the Area and successfully found and safely relocated the students within a few hours.

Meanwhile a note released on the same stated – Gujarat Police’s social media-based quick help initiative ‘GP-SMASH’ (Gujarat Police – Social Media Monitoring, Awareness and Systematic Handling) has accomplished another important task. Gujarat Police has found and safely rescued five students of Parul University, Vadodara, who lost their way while trekking to Tongai Hill Station near Zarwani in Narmada district, in just a few hours. The quick guidance of Minister of State for Home Shri Harsh Sanghvi and State Police Chief Shri Vikas Sahay played a crucial role in this entire operation.

According to the details of the incident, a woman named Subhashini M. had tagged Gujarat Police on the X (Twitter) platform and informed that five youths, including her son, who had gone for trekking in Narmada district, had lost their way and got trapped.

As soon as the matter was tagged to Gujarat Police, the shift in-charge of the GP-SMASH team, PSI Shri S.G. Chauhan, took immediate action in this regard by getting all the details including the location and commented on it and asked the Narmada Police to give necessary instructions and start the rescue operation immediately.

When this matter came to the notice of the Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri Harsh Sanghvi through X, he showed immediate sensitivity and instructed the State Police Chief Shri Vikas Sahay to take immediate action in this matter. Along with this, the State Police Chief Shri Vikas Sahay also immediately ordered the Narmada District Police Chief to take serious action in this matter and rescue all the youth with the help of the local police and forest team.

The details of the incident were that five young students of a private university in Vadodara, after visiting the Statue of Unity at around 10:30 am, had taken tickets for the Zarwani Waterfall and left their bikes at Bhangra Phalia in Zarwani village and started climbing the Tongai Hill Station. They reached the hill station at around 2:30 pm, but got lost while returning.

With the help of the local police and the forest department, all the five youths were successfully located and brought down safely at around 4:30 pm. The rescued youths include (1) Hitesh Suresh Penmusu (aged 22), (2) Himtej Vara Prasad Val Swami, (3) Vikiyat Nageshwar Rao Chilliyala (aged 21), (4) Likhit Chetanya Meka (aged 22) and (5) Sushil Rameshbhai Bhandaru (aged 20), all of whom live in Madhavpura area of ​​Vadodara.

The rescued students thanked the Gujarat Police and the local people who helped them and said that they are safe now. The woman who posted this has also thanked the entire team including the Gujarat Police. Under the guidance of Law and Order DIG Shri Deepak Meghani, the GP-SMASH team of Gujarat Police has once again proven its commitment to providing instant help to citizens in times of emergency by using the social media platform.
