Ahmedabad International Book Festival 2025 from Nov 13 at Sabarmati Riverfront
October 27, 2025
Ahmedabad: Preparations are in full swing for the upcoming Ahmedabad International Book Festival 2025, scheduled to be held from November 13 at the Sabarmati Riverfront. A preparatory meeting was recently convened under the chairmanship of Municipal Commissioner Banchhanidhi Pani and National Book Trust (NBT) India Director Yuvraj Malik to review arrangements for the literary event.
The book festival, which has become a key part of the city’s cultural calendar, aims to promote reading and literature among all age groups. The initiative traces its roots to the ‘Vanche Gujarat’ campaign, launched by the then Chief Minister and current Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the vision of building an intellectually empowered and enlightened society through the culture of reading.
As part of this initiative, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has been organizing an annual National Book Fair for several years, which was rebranded last year as the Ahmedabad International Book Festival to give it a global identity and encourage wider participation.
According to an official note, detailed discussions were held during the meeting regarding the smooth execution of various attractions planned for the festival — including literary sessions, author interactions, publisher stalls, and dedicated author platforms for visitors.
The meeting was attended by Bhagyesh Jha, Chairman of the Gujarat Sahitya Academy, senior AMC officials, representatives from major publishing houses, and literary experts. The festival is expected to draw book lovers, writers, and publishers from across India and abroad, celebrating the spirit of reading and literature on the banks of the Sabarmati. DeshGujarat
