November 05, 2025
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government will commence the procurement of groundnut, soybean, moong, and urad crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) from November 9, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced today.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, in a post on X, said, “While the standing crops of many farmers in the state have been damaged due to the unexpected calamity of unseasonal rains, the government is committed to stand with the farmers for financial assistance, taking courage from them. The government has decided to purchase ripe groundnuts, soybeans, moong, and urad at the support price from the farmers of the state, and this procurement will start from November 9.”
Giving the details, Gujarat Agriculture Minister Jitubhai Vaghani said, following the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to protect farmers from financial losses, MSPs for this year have been substantially increased compared to last year. Groundnut prices have been raised by Rs. 480 per quintal, urad by Rs. 400 per quintal, and soybean by Rs. 436 per quintal, ensuring farmers receive remunerative prices for their produce.
Minister Vaghani added that under the Prime Minister Annadata Suraksha Abhiyan, the state plans to procure crops worth over Rs. 15,000 crore this season, covering groundnut, soybean, urad, and moong. This will prevent farmers from selling their produce at lower market rates.
Considering this year’s anticipated groundnut production, the government has decided to purchase up to 125 mann (approx. 4.5 quintals) per farmer. To facilitate procurement, over 300 centers have been designated across Gujarat for these crops, with the option to increase the number of centers if required.
It is noteworthy that the central government had already announced MSPs for Kharif crops before sowing. As per the latest rates, MSPs have been set at Rs. 7,263 per quintal for groundnut, Rs. 8,768 per quintal for moong, Rs. 7,800 per quintal for urad, and Rs. 5,328 per quintal for soybean. DeshGujarat
