Rajkot Airport Staffer Held for Stealing Gold, Cash from Passenger Bags

Rajkot: A contractual employee at Rajkot International Airport has been arrested for allegedly stealing gold jewellery and cash from passengers’ luggage.
The Zone-1 Local Crime Branch (LCB) police apprehended the 28-year-old accused, Jayraj Khachar, and recovered the stolen valuables from him. The investigation revealed that Khachar was involved in two separate thefts from passengers’ baggage during October.
According to DCP Zone-1 Hetal Patel, Khachar stole jewellery and cash from a complainant’s bag on October 12. Later, in a second incident on October 26, he allegedly stole ₹85,000 from another passenger’s luggage. Khachar is currently in LCB custody and will be handed over to the airport police for further interrogation.
Khachar had been working at the airport for the past five years as an electrical maintenance technician, a role that included handling CCTV systems. Police said he had switched off the CCTV cameras while committing the thefts to avoid detection. DeshGujarat
