Minimum temperature drops below normal across Gujarat; Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar coldest below 15°C
November 08, 2025
Ahmedabad: The nip in the air grew stronger across Gujarat on Friday as both day and night temperatures remained below normal at several places, indicating a rapid onset of winter. According to the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) report issued at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, dry weather prevailed across the state, with no rainfall recorded anywhere in the past 24 hours.
The city experienced a noticeable dip in night-time temperatures last night, with the minimum settling at 14.7°C — about 3.4°C below normal, marking a significant drop from the previous night. Within just 24 hours, the mercury fell by 2.3 degrees, from 17°C on Thursday to 14.7°C on Friday, bringing with it the real chill of the season. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature stood at 30.8°C, which was also 3.2°C below normal.
Other major cities also witnessed a decline in temperature. Vadodara recorded a maximum of 31.4°C and a minimum of 15.6°C, both over 3°C below normal. Rajkot registered 33.3°C and 16.4°C, while Gandhinagar saw one of the lowest minimum temperatures at 14°C, a notable 4°C below normal.
In Naliya, traditionally among the coldest places in the state, the minimum settled at 15.4°C, followed by 15.8°C in Deesa and 16°C in Amreli. Coastal regions, including Porbandar (18.5°C), Veraval (20.8°C), and Dwarka (22.5°C), reported relatively milder nights but still registered slightly below-normal readings.
The IMD stated that northeasterly to easterly winds are prevailing over Gujarat, contributing to the drop in temperatures. The minimum temperature is expected to fall further by 1–2°C over the next two days, intensifying the winter chill across the state. DeshGujarat
