Rajkot: In a tragic road accident in the city, a 20-year-old college student lost his life after being struck by a speeding BMW near Crystal Mall on Kalavad Road around 2:30 a.m. on Monday.

The deceased, Abhishek Nathani, was a student of Marwadi College. CCTV footage of the incident, which has since gone viral, shows the BMW racing at high speed moments before it collided with his two-wheeler, dragging him for several metres before coming to a halt.

The video shows the moment when Abhishek, approaching from the opposite direction of the road on a turn, was hit head-on by the speeding BMW. The impact was so severe that Abhishek was thrown several feet away, sustained fatal injuries, and was declared dead on the spot by emergency responders.

Abhishek’s elder brother, Keval Nathani, filed a complaint at the Taluka Police Station. The police have since arrested the accused driver, Atman Patel, and booked him under BNS Sections 106(1), 281, and relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. Police are investigating whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol or any other intoxicating substance at the time of the crash. DeshGujarat
