Mahuva (Surat): Yet another distressing case of Love Jihad has come to light from Mahuva town in Surat district, where a Muslim youth, Fayaz, allegedly concealed his religious identity and trapped a Hindu girl in a fake love affair for nearly a decade. During this time, he allegedly repeatedly raped her, made her pregnant, forced her to undergo an abortion, and threatened to kill her.
According to the FIR registered at Mahuva Police Station, around nine years ago, the accused, Faiyaz Rafiq Sheikh, introduced himself to the victim as “Jainish,” a Hindu name, and gradually gained her trust. He then lured her into a physical relationship by promising to marry her.
The complaint states that over the span of more than nine years, Fayaz repeatedly engaged in physical relations with the victim behind her house and at other locations. As a result, the girl became pregnant, following which the accused allegedly forced her to have an abortion.
Additionally, Fayaz arranged a sham marriage ceremony with the help of a Muslim cleric (maulvi) to maintain the illusion that the relationship was legitimate. However, no legal marriage ever took place, and the accused continued to exploit her. When the victim began resisting, Fayaz allegedly issued death threats.
Mahuva police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and have arrested both the prime accused, Fayaz, and the cleric who performed the fake nikah. Since the victim belongs to the Scheduled Caste community, relevant sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have also been invoked. Both accused are currently in police custody and are being interrogated. DeshGujarat
