Kutch: A Pakistani couple who claimed to be minors after crossing the border into Kutch last month have been confirmed as adults and booked for attempting to enter India illegally.
The duo, Toto alias Tara Chudi and Meena alias Puja Chudi from Islamkot tehsil in Pakistan’s Tharparkar district, fled their homes after their families opposed their relationship. They were detained near Ratanpar village on October 8.
Despite telling multiple security agencies that they were 15 and 16 years old and had escaped to get married, they carried no documents. A detailed medical examination at Bhuj government hospital later confirmed Toto is 21 and Meena is between 18 and 20.
Khadir Police in the Kutch (East) division arrested them on Tuesday under the Immigration Act, Foreigners Act and Passport Act. Although nothing illegal was found on them, they had no proof of age or identity.
Police said brain-mapping and polygraph tests will be conducted to gather more information. DeshGujarat
