VMC water supply disruption in parts of Vadodara; 4 lakh residents to be hit

Vadodara: Around 4 lakh residents in the eastern and southern parts of Vadodara will face water supply disruptions for three days next week as the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) connects a new pipeline between the Ajwa reservoir and the Nimeta water treatment plant (WTP).

VMC has recently completed laying a mild-steel pipeline with a three-layer polyethylene coating to replace the old cast-iron line linking the reservoir to the filtration plant. The switchover to the new pipeline and associated connection work is expected to take around 48 hours. The work will begin on Tuesday, November 25th, after the morning water supply.

Water supply will be suspended on Tuesday evening, both morning and evening on Wednesday, and again on Thursday morning. Supply will gradually resume from Thursday, i.e., November 27th evening.

Areas likely to be affected include networks connected to the Panigate, Nalanda, Gajrawadi, Bapod, Sayajipura, Kapurai, and Lalbaug water tanks. Booster stations at Somatalav, Sankheda Dashalad Bhavan, Nanddham, Maheshnagar, and Mahanagar will also experience reduced supply.

VMC has advised residents to store sufficient water in advance and use it judiciously until normal supply resumes on Thursday evening.
