ACB Gujarat nabs two government staffers in bribe case

Rajpipla: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted a trap operation on Wednesday and caught two government employees red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹4,500 in connection with pension-related work.

The complainant had retired on September 30, 2025, from the Karjan Reservoir Irrigation Scheme, Rajpipla. For approval of his pension, he approached Maheshbhai Khodabhai Vasava, a Class-IV daily-wage employee working with the irrigation department at Rajpipla. Vasava informed the complainant that his service book had been sent to Gandhinagar and demanded a bribe of ₹4,500 for clearing the pension approval.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB and lodged a complaint. Acting on it, the ACB laid a trap. During the trap, Maheshbhai Vasava accepted the bribe amount of ₹4,500 from the complainant. It was also revealed that Mukeshbhai R. Patel, a personnel from the Pension Department, Block No. 18, Office of the Director of Pension and Provident Fund, Old Secretariat, Gandhinagar, was also an accomplice in the bribe demand.

The entire bribe amount of ₹4,500 was recovered during the operation. Vasava was caught at the spot, and further legal proceedings have been initiated against both accused. DeshGujarat
