₹1,340 crore Sagarmala projects sanctioned for Gujarat; five of nine complete

New Delhi: Gujarat has emerged as one of the key states under the Centre’s Sagarmala programme, with nine port-led development projects sanctioned so far. Of these, five projects have been completed as of now.

In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal stated that Sagarmala projects in Gujarat involve a total estimated investment of ₹1,340 crore. Of this, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) has committed a funding share of ₹558 crore, of which ₹483 crore has already been released.

Out of the nine Sagarmala projects sanctioned for Gujarat, five have been completed, while four are currently under implementation. The projects form part of the Centre’s broader initiative to promote port-led development, improve logistics efficiency, and boost coastal and maritime infrastructure.

At the national level, a total of 124 Sagarmala projects have been sanctioned across coastal states and Union Territories, with a combined project cost of ₹8,670 crore. The MoPSW’s funding share stands at ₹3,238 crore, of which ₹2,838 crore has been released. Of these projects, 78 have been completed and 46 are under implementation.
