ED Ahmedabad files ₹3.77 crore DA case against ex-Daman and Diu District Panchayat chief
December 20, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Ahmedabad, has filed a Prosecution Complaint against Ketan Patel, former President of the District Panchayat, Daman and Diu (Union Territory), before the Ld. Special Court, PMLA, at Daman for possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The ED initiated the investigation on the basis of an FIR registered by the CBI against Ketan Patel, then President of the District Panchayat, Daman and Diu (Union Territory), and others under various sections of the IPC, 1860, and the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for the suspected offence of possession of assets disproportionate to known sources of income by a public servant during the period from 04.10.2005 to 05.10.2015. Subsequently, the CBI filed a charge sheet against Ketan Patel for possession of disproportionate assets to the tune of ₹3.77 crore.
The investigation revealed that Ketan Patel, while serving as President of the District Panchayat, Daman and Diu (2005–2015), received corruption proceeds, resulting in multiple cash deposits and accommodation entries in his bank accounts. It was further revealed that most of the cash deposits and credits were used by Ketan Patel for hotel stays, shopping, and other personal expenses. He attempted to explain these accommodation entries as “loans” that were never repaid, thereby strengthening the ED’s finding that the amounts were derived from corrupt activities.
In this case, the ED had earlier issued a Provisional Attachment Order, attaching properties worth ₹3.77 crore, including commercial units and shops in Mumbai, a plot, and fixed deposits belonging to Ketan Patel. DeshGujarat
