GIPCL completes 600 MW solar power project at Khavda with commissioning of final phase

Kutch: Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd (GIPCL) has commissioned the fifth and final phase of its solar power project at Khavda in Kutch, taking the total operational capacity at the site to 600 MW.
In a regulatory filing, GIPCL said, “the Company has successfully commissioned fifth and final phase of 135 MW out of 600 MW Solar Power Project (total capacity commenced 600 MW), located within the 2,375 MW Renewable Energy Park at Khavda, Great Rann of Kutch.”
The company had earlier signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government in January 2024 for the development of the 2,375 MW Khavda Renewable Energy Park, along with an additional 1,100 MW of solar capacity at the same location in Gandhinagar. Following the agreement, the state government allotted 4,750 hectares of land to GIPCL in the Khavda Hybrid Renewable Energy Park for setting up a 2,375 MW solar, wind, and hybrid renewable energy project.
