Driver of Vajubhai Wala’s Mercedes attempts to uproot civic board in Rajkot; video goes viral

Rajkot: A shocking incident involving alleged damage to public property has come to light near the Athletics Ground in Rajkot, triggering widespread outrage after a video of the episode went viral on social media.

According to available information, a white luxury Mercedes car bearing a sticker marked “Ex-MLA Gujarat” was being parked on a public road when it reportedly hit a municipal signboard installed by the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC). Following the collision, the driver allegedly got out of the vehicle and attempted to uproot the government-installed board to facilitate parking.

It later emerged that the Mercedes car is belonged to former Gujarat MLA, Assembly Speaker and former Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Wala. At the time of the incident, the vehicle was being driven by his driver, identified as Ranveer. A passer-by, who was out for a walk in the area, recorded the incident on his mobile phone after witnessing the alleged damage to government property. The video subsequently went viral, making the incident a major topic of discussion in the city.

Paresh Joshi, who shot the video, said the car hit the board while reversing. “After that, the driver got down, looked around and then started trying to uproot the board. I recorded the video because it involved damage to public property. If someone associated with a vehicle displaying ‘Ex-MLA Gujarat’ behaves like this, what message does it send to the general public?” he questioned.

The viral footage clearly shows the driver attempting to remove the municipal board—an act that many on social media have termed unbecoming and an apparent misuse of perceived authority. Although no official confirmation has yet been issued regarding the authenticity of the video, public anger has been mounting, with citizens demanding strict action as per the rules.

The incident has raised serious questions about accountability and respect for public property. All eyes are now on the police and the Rajkot Municipal Corporation to see what action will be initiated in connection with the matter. DeshGujarat
