AMC to auction three school-use plots on 99-year lease

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has initiated the process to auction three plots reserved for educational purposes, marking its first such move in nearly ten years. The AMC estate department on Monday announced that the plots located in Nikol, Thaltej, and Hanspura will be put up for auction.

Under the Gujarat government’s Land Disposal Policy, AMC has determined a total base value of ₹72.22 crore after applying a 50% concession applicable to school-purpose plots. The Nikol plot spans 2,083 sq. m and carries a base rate of ₹28,000 per sq. m, valuing it at ₹5.83 crore. The Thaltej plot measures 3,662 sq. m with a base price of ₹1.39 lakh per sq. m, amounting to ₹50.90 crore. The Hanspura plot covers 4,427 sq. m and is priced at ₹35,000 per sq. m, with a valuation of ₹15.49 crore.

Location Area (sq. m.) Base Price (₹ per sq. m.) Estimated Value (₹ crore)
Nikol 2,083 28,000 5.83
Thaltej 3,662 1,39,000 50.90
Hanspura 4,427 35,000 15.49

Bidding will begin from these base prices. Trusts, institutions, companies, and organizations interested in participating must register by January 27, 2026. The auction for all three plots is scheduled to take place on February 10. AMC has not auctioned school-designated plots in the past decade; however, in the last five years, two reserved plots were allotted at market price, including a school plot in Gota in 2020. Additionally, a commercial plot in Nikol was earlier allotted to an educational institution for establishing a school and hostel facility. DeshGujarat
