German Chancellor Merz in Ahmedabad on First India Visit; to Meet PM Modi

Ahmedabad: Federal Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, arrived at Ahmedabad airport earlier today. He was welcomed by Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi.
Chancellor Merz, who is on his first official two-day visit to India beginning today, will shortly meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Mahatma Gandhi’s Sabarmati Ashram. Later, the two leaders will participate in the International Kite Festival at the Sabarmati Riverfront. This will be followed by bilateral engagements at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.
During the talks, the two leaders will review the progress of the India–Germany Strategic Partnership, which recently completed 25 years. Discussions will focus on further strengthening cooperation in trade and investment, technology, education, skilling and mobility, as well as advancing collaboration in key areas such as defence and security, science, innovation and research, green and sustainable development, and people-to-people ties.
Prime Minister Modi and Chancellor Merz will also exchange views on regional and global issues and engage with business and industry leaders from both countries. DeshGujarat
