AMC leases out its plot to private Hotel for parking
January 16, 2026
Ahmedabad: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has leased out its municipal reserve plot in Jodhpur-1 ward temporarily for parking purposes to a private hotel. The decision follows a representation made by Hotel Platinum Residency, located opposite Shell Petrol Pump on Anandnagar Road, requesting the allocation of space for parking facilities for its guests and visitors.
According to details shared by AMC officials, the Corporation has allotted 867 square meters of municipal reserve land which was originally earmarked for sale for recreational purposes. The space has been leased out on a temporary basis for a period of 365 days, from January 7, 2026, to January 6, 2027.
In return for the allotment, AMC has collected an estate license fee of Rs. 2,20,000 and a security deposit of Rs. 55,000, bringing the total amount to Rs. 2,75,000.
Officials pointed out that the lack of adequate parking facilities near several restaurants, hotels, and commercial establishments in various parts of Ahmedabad has often led to congestion, illegal parking, and inconvenience for motorists. To mitigate this issue, the Municipal Corporation has adopted a policy of temporarily leasing out vacant municipal plots or reserve spaces in congested areas for organized parking.
Under this initiative, the hotel in Jodhpur-1 ward will develop and manage the allotted space as a structured parking area for its customers, which is expected to ease local traffic movement and reduce haphazard roadside parking.
Meanwhile regarding the parking problem in the city, Chairman of AMC Standing Committee, Devang Dani said that to solve the parking problem, Sindhubhavan Multi-Level Parking, Prahlad Nagar Multi-Level Parking and Danapith Multi-Level Parking etc. have been opened for the public. Soon, Danapith Parking will also be opened in the central zone. As a result, the traffic problem will be eased. Apart from this, the parking plots provided by the Municipal Corporation are about 60, which have been increased to 20 more plots for parking plots. But in some places, despite having space inside the commercial units, outside vehicles are not allowed to enter. For which, the Municipal Corporation will take action against these commercial units for not allowing parking inside. So that these vehicles do not remain parked on the road and vehicles are parked in safe places.DeshGujarat
