Gujarat govt transfers two IAS officers; Surat gets new Municipal Commissioner

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat government on Thursday announced a key administrative reshuffle, transferring two senior IAS officers and affecting important civic, transport and energy sector positions.
According to a notification issued by the General Administration Department on January 22, 2026, Shalini Agrawal, IAS (2005 batch), currently serving as Municipal Commissioner of the Surat Municipal Corporation, has been transferred and her services have been placed at the disposal of the Energy and Petrochemicals Department. She will be appointed as Managing Director of Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL), Vadodara, relieving Jenu Devan, IAS, of the additional charge of the post.
Meanwhile, Nagarajan M., IAS (2009 batch), Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC), Ahmedabad, has been transferred and posted as the new Municipal Commissioner of the Surat Municipal Corporation. He will take charge in place of Ms. Shalini Agrawal following her transfer.
Furthermore, Dr. Rajender Kumar, IAS (2004 batch), Commissioner of Transport, Gandhinagar, has been assigned additional charge of the post of Vice Chairman and Managing Director, GSRTC, Ahmedabad, following the transfer of Nagarajan M. DeshGujarat
