Ahmedabad: The Gujarat government has nominated the Deputy Chief Minister as the Vice-Chairman of the Governing Council of the Mahatma Gandhi Sabarmati Ashram Memorial Trust (MGSAMT), according to an official resolution issued by the Industries and Mines Department.
The decision was taken through a government resolution, which also appointed I.K. Patel, IAS (Retd.), Officer on Special Duty, as the Member Secretary of the Governing Council of the Trust.
In another recent development, the Trust, which is implementing the ₹1,200-crore Sabarmati Ashram redevelopment project, has awarded a ₹113-crore tender to Ecofirst Services Limited, a subsidiary of the Tata Group.
The contract involves the design and development of museums and exhibitions across 55 acres of the ashram campus under a design–build–operate–transfer (DBOT) model. The scope of work includes curation, content development, exhibit fabrication and outdoor sculpture installations in 23 buildings.
The tender, finalised earlier this month, also includes five years of maintenance. The redevelopment project is being jointly implemented by the Central and Gujarat governments. DeshGujarat
